They have contacted the Bosch technical team and spoken to them while they were here and the answer by the technical side was there was nothing more that could be done. The unit is useless. Like Report David 12 months ago We cannot turn the temperature up more than maximum on the unit, I have a shower on full heat. We have to turn the tap on a number of times to get the heater to work. I will never buy another Bosch product. Please be informed that a few alterations can be made to increase the hot water temperature. Inside the unit there are 2 temperature adjustments that can be made: a slide control that controls the gas burner and a round dial on the water valve. Slide the control to the right to increase the burner and temperature, you can also turn the round dial clockwise to increase the temperature. If these are already set to the maximum settings, then a service is required. Services are recommended every 2 years. Follow the copper pipe that comes out of the hydro generator it comes back to the front of the appliance and goes into the housing mine is gray and has the knob that adjusts the flow. There is a metal u clip on top of where the pipe enters the housing pull it out the pipe will pull out and can be moved to the side. When I go out to the hot water service 13H I can hear a clicking noise which I assume is the unit trying to start up but it seems that there is not enough water pressure to cause it to light. The old 960 gas pilot ignition unit worked fine, but this one struggles with putting out a steady flow of hot water. Sometimes the burners turn off while shower is on, and getting the right temperature in shower is tricky. I know the flow rate is really low, and probably not enough to keep burners going once you start to mix the water, but I don't know where it is being restricted. Any clues as to what's going on and how to fix it. The added restriction caused by the Bosch in the hot water system can result in uneven pressures between the cold and the hot. In such cases when mixing cold water at the tap, the lower hot water pressure may be overpowered by a much higher cold water pressure, which may cause the Bosch burners to shut down. Does anyone have any ideas. Thanks, Johan The filter should be an easy fix but if it is an old unit and is badly scaled up, it might be toast. Poor little thing might be chugging it's guts out but it's just not enough! My Rinnai unit delivers a considerable stream of warm air out the 'flue' (just a slot on the front of the device, since the unit is mounted outside) when it's running. You could check that that is steady, when there's hot water draw. The fan is also easily audible. Never mind, if not). Never mind, if not). Ignition is achieved by a turbine that runs off the energy of the water flow. In most cases it appears that the complaints are caused by the installation being faulty in terms of inappropriate flow restrictors or pipeline lengths. It seems here that the OP's parents water lines or showerheads have excessively low flow rates. Anybody know a German plumber?
Possibly a blockage at the heater, in the HW feed or supply or at a tempering valve as others have suggested. It will assist in determining whether there is a restriction and its location. It is clean and shiny inside and the gas ignites well and can be adjusted with the knobs. I'm interested in the filter cleaning suggestion, but could not determine which is the actual part I'm meant to be looking at, as I could not find a diagram online or in the installation manual. Is there a reason why the flow in the kitchen would be greater than the flow to the bathroom tap and also shower tap. Thanks again! Sorry, replied to posts without refreshing page so hadn't read these last few. Tempering valves have strainers that can be blocked from dirt etc. The strainers are usually cleanable. BTW turning on another tap is for testing purposes only to determine if there is a restriction and where it might be located. eg. If turning on the basin tap makes no difference and the basin and shower are supplied via the same tempering valve it is most likely the tempering valve causing the restriction. It just seemed like the most appropriate place to seek help. I have done a bit of Googling to find the relighting process for our model of water heater (Bosch HydroPower 16H) but am coming up short on answers.
